Preserve support for WMUB

I believe it is very important for Miami to preserve support for WMUB for the following reasons:

1. WMUB is the only NPR station that many in the southwestern Ohio area can receive during commutes to and from work. The commute has turned into an important time to receive the latest accurate and un biased news presentation. In a democracy, un-biased and truthful reporting of the facts is vital in order for citizens to monitor the actions of government. It is also imperative for citizens to keep up with a factual reporting of events around the world, as America is no longer isolated and self sufficient.  NPR seems to be the only un biased and honest source for news now because it has not sold out to corporate interests. Many of the traditional sources of un-biased and truthful reporting have now been sold to entertainment companies, and their focus is now on entertainment rather than honest reporting of the facts and stories from around the world. It is therefore crucial to preserve support for WMUB that is one of the best stations for receiving NPR reporting, as it presents a greater variety of NPR broadcasts than other NPR stations in the area, and for many, those reception for those other stations is not very good.

2. By preserving support for WMUB, it will be possible for Miami University to expose and increase exposure to the journalism and broadcasting fields, whereas, if the station were shut down, this would no longer be available.

3. Miami University is a member of the community of southwestern Ohio. It is important for Miami to provide the benefit of support for WMUB to the surrounding Ohio taxpayers who support Miami, but who may not benefit in any other way from Miami University's programs and activities.
I commute back and forth from West Alexandria Ohio to Oxford 5 days a week and listen to WMUB whenever I am driving. It is an outstanding station and needs to be preserved.
